This disk contains new modem control files for the Hayes Smartmodem
9600 bps V.32 modem or compatibles. Please copy the contents of the
disk to the directory 'MV'\MHS\SYS. After all the files have been
copied, these two modem types will appear as extra selections for the
editing of modem type during an MHS configuration session.
Here are the two new modem types:
+ 96V32 - These files are for Hayes Smartmodem 9600 bps V.32 modems
or compatibles operating at 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600 bps.
They are for hosts which only place calls TO other hosts.
+ 96V32HUB - These files are for Hayes Smartmodem 9600 bps V.32 modems
or compatibles operating at 1200, 2400, 4800 or 9600 bps.
They are for hosts operating as hubs which both place calls TO
and receive calls FROM other hosts.
Please follow the instructions as described in Chapters 3 and 4 in the
MHS Installation and Operation Guide to specify one of these new modem
types for your MHS host.

Please note that if the modem which your modem called is a 2400
bps modem, the two will connect at 2400 bps. Modems will make
connection at the lower speed of the two modems. The speed at
which the modems connect should have no effect on the serial
port baud rate between the modem and the workstation. This is
still true if your V.32 modem or compatible is receiving calls
from a lower speed modem. Your V.32 modem will connect to another
modem at 9600 bps only if the other modem is also a 9600 bps
modem, but the files should allow you to connect to all other
lower speed modems down to 1200 bps.
